This artifact is a handmade note with an envelope that has a pressed flower in between paper. When looking closely, there is specks of glitter and only the name “Edna” found on the artifact. This was archived at Walter Havighurst Special Collections, The University Archives, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While there is not much information found about this object or any type of writing. It can be assumed that this pressed flower was meant to preserve a memory and has sentimental value. It can also be assumed that a person named Edna was the one who made this.

This artifact holds an indirect connection to graphic design history by serving as a source of inspiration rooted in nature. It highlights the importance of craftsmanship and the use of natural materials, extending beyond traditional mediums like paper and ink. While design is often used for storytelling and personal expression, this artifact’s connection to design lies in its more abstract role as a source of creative inspiration.
