1

This 15 x 22in. serigraph poster was likely made in the 1960s. It was used as promotional material for a printmaking exhibition at the College of Our Lady of the Elms, or Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The poster reads “Borgia Gallery. Kathe Kollwitz. The Landauer Collection on Loan from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut. College of Our Lady of The Elms. Opening Apr. 16 – 7:00p.m. to 9p.m. – Gallery Open Daily – Apr. 16 to May 6 – 3 to 9p.m.” and features a 1934 monochrome lithograph called Selbstbilnis (“Self-portrait”) by Käthe Kollwitz. Kollwitz (1867-1935) was a German artist who worked with painting, printmaking and sculpture. She is said to be the last great practitioner of German Expressionism and a leading artist of social protest in the 20th century.
