For over 30 years, Karuk artist Brian D. Tripp created thousands of drawings in newspapers each morning with his morning coffee, using ink to challenge and disrupt colonial narratives. This series critiques the exploitation of waterways, emphasizing their importance and celebrating the resistance and resilience of inhabitants. Through the drawings accompanied by the disruption of the text, Tripp utilized low-cost production strategies through repurposed newspapers and ink to confront the commodification of water and highlight the deep connection between Indigenous peoples and their environment.
