El Señor de los Milagros

1

Senor de Los Milagros (The Lord of Miracles) is an artifact that is native to Peruvian culture. The artifact was painted by Benito or Pedro Dalcon in the 17th century. Its name was given to the artifact because of a devastating earthquake in 1955 in Peru where the painting was the last thing standing despite everything being destroyed around it.

The badge is pinned onto a robe that is worn during La Procesión del Señor de los Milagros (The Procession of the Lord of Miracles) which occurs on certain days in October. For example, the first Saturday of October, the 18th, 19th, 28th and 1st day of November.

Each badge comes with a different number that highlights each group of the procession. The badge was created around the year 2000. The colors purple and gold are connected to the traditional color that is used for each robe or personal item throughout Peru during these times. It is created out of string or yarn. This artifact is still fabricated to this day as The Procession of the Lord of Miracles is still practiced today and is very important to Peruvian culture as it is a symbol of faith, miracles, culture, and tradition.
