This image shows the title page of a 1747 Venezuelan text “Libro de Acuerdos de la Citada Cofradía” which documents the religious brotherhood's constitutions and government. The exceptional lettering, ornamental framing and structured layout emphasizes its dual role as both a legal document and a work of art. This document influenced early Venezuelan literacy by incorporating legal and religious materials into a visually pleasing style that connected content with visual interpretation. It represents the wider purpose in encouraging literacy among religious organizations. Additionally, it was an early connection of text and design which anticipates current design concepts.
