Precis Sur L'Histoire De France [A Brief History of France] is a full length Braille book and is the first full length book written in entirely Braille dot system.  This book was the beginning of mainstream usage of Braille text in published documents.

With the introduction of Braille, texts like these could now be adapted to provide visually impaired readers with access to written knowledge. This historical shift towards textual inclusivity opened up new literacy opportunities for people with visual impairments. The beginnings of Braille text marked a point in time where literacy became an achievable concept for not just able-bodied people.

The shift caused by this text encouraged those with visual impairments to pursue scholarly endeavors, and the preservation of this book is important to uphold as a key turning point in the blind and visually impaired community's history.
