Illustrations from pages 56, 24, and 14

The Boxer Codex is a manuscript created in the Philippines during the Spanish's first contact with the island. The manuscript contains depictions of the island's people and other East Asian countries such as Japan and China.

These three illustrations from the Boxer Codex depict some of the indigenous peoples living in the Philippines in their traditional garments. At the top of each page, the name of the group is written in gold ink. From left to right, the first couple are the Tagalogs from Luzon, the second are the Visayans and lastly,  the third couple are Negrillos (or Negritos).
