This emoji set, believed to be the first set of iconographic image-like form of communication, was found within the Sharp PA-8500, a PDA or Personal Digital Assistant. In the late 1980s and early 90s these Japanese language word processors, also called “electronic typewriters” or wapro, were very common. Several other PDA devices released after Sharp PA-8500 has been found to also include emojis.
