850

This image is an advertisement pulled from Life Magazine in 1952 for the company Westmore Hollywood Cosmetics. Here you are viewing a testimonial from Marilyn Monroe about Tru-Glo Liquid makeup. This print advertisement for a publication immensely shaped and continued the gender-stereotype used with its use of color and typography. The intentional use to show Marilyn on a pink background is pushing her promotion of the product on a more feminine audience. The use of a more feminine associated, script font. These stereotypical visual cues, (pink washing) are able to point the design to capture a more female eye and promote the Tru-Glo Liquid makeup to its intended audience.
