The game was designed during the early 1900s Art Deco era and was produced by Parker Brothers Inc.. 1 Its influence is most notable through the use of sleek, simple shapes such as the cone, sphere, and arch on the box cover. The women and the cone and sphere are used to balance the sides of the box.
The cone and sphere represent Trylon and Perisphere, two famous modernistic structures of the New York World's Fair. 2 They symbolize the modernist movement and the fair's theme: "The World of Tomorrow". 3 Although the title focuses on Bobby and Betty, they are not real people. Instead, their names are synonymous with placeholder names like Jack and Jill.
