Ordeal By Roses is a collaboration of nude photos Eikoh Hosoe taken for writer Yukio Mishima, known as a seminal work in his career.
Eiko Hosoe, who is the most influential postwar Japan photographer, famous for his dark, fiercely avant-garde work. Hosoe creates dark but dreamlike works through immersive collaborations with Yukio Mishima, thus breaking the boundaries of traditional documentary photography. Despite the controversy, the strange world he created with photography is still unforgettable.
