Ordeal By Roses is a collaboration of nude photos Eikoh Hosoe taken for writer Yukio Mishima, known as a seminal work in his career.
Eiko Hosoe, who is the most influential postwar Japan photographer, famous for his dark, fiercely avant-garde work. Hosoe creates dark but dreamlike works through immersive collaborations with Yukio Mishima, thus breaking the boundaries of traditional documentary photography.
