The Japan Red Cross Society was founded in 1877 but didn't receive its name until the country joined the International Committee of the Red Cross. K. Sakai created eight posters around 1925 a few years after the Junior Red Cross was founded. The posters were to remind kids to be healthy, how to act in public, and how to be a member of society. After World War I, these posters were used to present the political agenda to present their societies as “modern” and “civilized" to other countries' views.
