The Lonesome Cowboy

1

A statue by the famous pop and super flat artist Takashi Murakami in 1998, this 3D statue depicting a stereotyped and overly sexualized anime boy pleasuring himself in such an outlandish and imaginative way questions more than just shock and interest. This alarming and peculiarly idealized statue for a specific and struggling subculture of consumer ‘Otaku-ism’ pulls from numerous genres of graphic design, despite existing in a three dimensional and pop up world.
