Above pictures the logo of the Artemis program, a NASA initiative for moon travel as a stepping stone for Mars travel. 1 This logo represents revitalized initiatives to travel to the moon in the 21st century. It differs from the 1969 Apollo insignia because of its modern style. Artemis logo is composed of vector shapes and simple colors, which owes its origins to the Bauhaus movement. 4 The Apollo 11 insignia illustration and is more literal in its depiction traveling from the earth to the moon. Each logo is a product of the design style of its time. Yet, they both symbolize power and ambition. Artemis, in Greek mythology, is Apollo’s sister. 4 The name connects the Cold War missions to present day missions.
