This print of LIFE magazine is a collectors edition that features their favorite photos from the late 70's to early 90's. It was released in summer of 1991 by LIFE Magazine and sponsored by Nikon. The only included advertisements are for Nikon digital cameras. It was sold for $4.95. LIFE magazine keeps an archive of all of their photographs from the 20th century that includes over 10 million images. In this magazine alone there are 63 different photographers featured from around the world.
This magazine distinctly shows how typography and layout was being explored in the 1990's. There is dynamic layout that highlights and features the photographs in a variety of different grids. Even the camera advertisements throughout are visually exciting. Magazines such as this one were a way for people to see images from all over the world highlighting major moments in history in a time before the internet. Culturally it is a way for us to see what might have been viewed as significant in world events at the time.
