Where We Are. Where We're Going is an emo/hardcore album by Florida screamo band Devices. Discern Directions Records pressed and released the album on vinyl in Eugene, Oregon in 2007. 500 green copies were pressed as a limited edition run. Their music is not available online officially, with the only way to listen other than physical media being a bootleg recording on YouTube (linked below).

The album layout and design was done by band member Ryan Freeman, and the imagery was taken from a watercolor painting done by artist Phil Bailey. Mixed media was and always has been popular in the DIY alternative music scene.
Due to this record being released at such a small scale in a time before streaming platforms were popular and easily accessible, there is little information about it online. This is why it is so important to preserve any parts of it that we can, as there is already so much lost media due to lack of physical copies available combined with streaming applications not being popular at the time of release. The DIY scene is built around community and supporting one another, and that includes preserving media created by those before you and paying respect to all art, regardless of how small or insignificant it may feel. Devices may no longer be a band, but their presence lives on in the form of their art and the music. Without preservation, we lose subcultures and their history.
