In Rainbows Album Cover

Created by Stanley Donwood using Photographic-etching, putting prints into acid baths, and throwing wax at paper.  The album released in 2007, however the album art was released with the physical album on December 3rd 2007.  This piece is important to contribute to the archive because of what it represents.  Donwood's intention was to show how to music sounded visually.  The colorful organic movements, the smudges and splatters, various gradients and shapes all encapsulate the musical amalgamation that In Rainbows is.  The music itself is an exploration of emotion ranging from intense sadness to peak euphoria.  Visually representing these ranges of emotion and expression goes hand in hand with what Graphic Design is and should be.  Graphic Design can be learned and used by any range of individuals across every spectrum there is.  Those who wish to express themselves in the utmost colorful fashion, just like In Rainbows does, can use Graphic Design to do so.
