These specimens include 48 pages of a collection of listings of the machine set typefaces available at Rand Typography Inc. at the time. Type is set in multiple contexts to illustrate how they look when used for different purposes.
An index in the back shows each available typeface and its name for easy viewing. The typefaces are displayed in paragraph form with the upper and lowercase alphabet underneath.
The inside cover states, “This is a complete Alphabetical Listing of Machine Set Faces available at the present time. We have shown a complete paragraph, plus the cap and lower case alphabets, so that you may easily see what the finished printed piece will look like. When new faces are added to our current library, new printed pages will be made available so that they may be inserted in the book.”
