Detroit Industry Murals

1

Titled Detroit Industry Murals is located in the Detroit Institute of Arts. This series of murals were created between 1932 and 1933 by Diego M. Rivera. Rivera was a Mexican artist who created these pieces that serve as a big reminder of the city's rich industrial heritage and its potential for renewal. Rivera's bold use of color and scale pays respect to the grandeur of Mexican muralism, while his subject matter reflects the harsh reality of American industrialism. These murals' impact on Graphic Design shows the artist that barriers or culture can be broken. Emotional topics like economic hardships can and should be shown in the art that is displayed.
