A well-aged, image dominant, Christmas-themed greeting card. This print showcases an illustration of Frederigo Barocci’s The Nativity as well as a stylized image of a church. The illustrations showcase both a realistic image of Mary with baby Jesus and an abstract image of a blue church. Occupying the left side of the card lies various adornments reminiscent of Biblical illuminations. Paired with this, there is a gorgeous “C” drop cap introducing the typographic elements of this card. Although located in the center of the card the type is formatted asymmetrically adding a sense of movement to the piece. The outside of the card acts as an envelope for shipping. It is unknown when and by whom this card was printed. However, this card was shipped in 1953. The condition of the card consists of a natural aging of the paper, some tears on both the envelop and card side, a faded black shipping stamp mark, and writing by its previous owners.
