Little Red Riding Hood is a classic warning tale of “stranger danger.” The illustrations featured in this storybook are in a recognisable watercolor style. The cover features Little Red, who is drawn to look short and childlike, innocently walking into the forest with a basket for her grandmother, unaware of what’s inside. She steps away from the white background and into the trees where dark shadows extend from under her feet. This gives the cover a menacing feel to foreshadow the wolf without making it too scary. This is a hardcover book that was published in the U.S. in 1950 by Rand McNally Junior Elf Books. This story will be read for generations because of its valuable message about trusting strangers and staying safe that parents will want their children to hear.
