A visual identity for Korean national postal service was designed after a survey in 1984 that showed the mark was unmemorable and carried a cold, unfriendly impression to the public. To counter the problem, Ahn Jung-un design research team came up with the logomark after a barn swallow (제비), which is a bird that symbolizes speed, accuracy, percision, friendliness, and a messenger of good news in Korean beliefs and folktales.
