Clear and Present Danger (Film) (VHS)

Clear and Present Danger is the third film in the Jack Ryan series, based on a series of books written by Tom Clancy, and is a sequel to the films The Hunt for Red October (1990) and Patriot Games (1992).

The front of the package features the film's poster with some supplemental details removed, leaving the main design. The film's tagline is located at the top left while the title and main actor's name are at the bottom left. The remainder of the composition is taken up by Harrison Ford's face and an American flag. The sides feature the film's poster with all the text removed at the top, the film's title in the middle, and the Paramount logo at the bottom. The back contains a bright red background with text describing the film's plot  and various shots from the film. The bottom contains various supplemental information about the film with pictures of the first two films in the series slightly above this information. The top has the film's title and some supplemental information on the left with the paramount logo on the right.

This box strikes a balance between utilizing brand recognition and subtly explaining the story. The clear presence of Harrison Ford, an A-List actor helps to grab audience attention due to them knowing who he is. However, the tagline and American flag give subtle hints as to the plot of the story and gives audiences a hint at what the story is about without them needing to read the more elaborate explanation on the back.
