The Nintendo DS version of the “MarioKart DS” game was a video game published by Nintendo November 2005. The interaction booklet is white in color with a printed graphic on the front displaying the game graphics along with brand logos. There is a stylized type for the title “MarioKart” which is a sans-serif font with a gradient highlighting the tops of all of the letter forms. Below the “MarioKart” title the letters “DS” are in the same type as the title in a slightly italicized state. There are 3 dark grey lines extending from “DS” in a descending stair step layout. There are 2 red rectangles that have been warped into an acute diamond shape. There is an illustration of Mario on a go-cart performing a spin move over the back. Not only were these characters an iconic part of gaming history, but this game was also a significant part of many generations childhoods growing up during the early 90’s and 2000’s filled with fond memories to reminisce on. From a design standpoint this game serves as an example of nostalgic graphics, animations, and user interactions for future generations to look back upon, draw inspiration from, and learn from past faults.
