Johnny Appleseed

8

"Johnny Appleseed" by Eva Moore, with illustrations by Beatrice Darwin, is a children's book that follows the adventurous life of John Chapman, famously known as Johnny Appleseed. Set against the time of early American frontier life, the story talks about Chapman's mission to spread the cultivation of apple trees across the land. While being a simple yet engaging experience, readers are transported into Chapman's world as he journeys through forests and fields, planting seeds and nurturing orchards. Moore's narrative shows the primary part of Chapman's character, portraying him as a kind-hearted figure with a real love for nature. Darwin's illustrations add a large amount of depth to the book, given the sketch-like art style making a fitting touch for the book and what its trying to portray. The books condition consists of slight wear and tear on the edges of the pages, and a significant amount of page yellowing due to the cheaper quality of paper used during the printing process.
