Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Playbill

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was a musical unique in its conception that had its first performance on Broadway in 2011 and final performance in 2014. With a heavy focus on stunts for its acrobatic characters of Spider-Man and the main villain, the Green Goblin, the musical is the most expensive Broadway production in history. Its score that borders closely to rock also adds intrigue as it draws on the story from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies in the early 2000s. Since its closing in 2014, the musical has not gone on tour, leaving those few lucky Broadway attendees to be some of the few to see the show.

This Broadway playbill from Foxwoods Theatre features a crouched Spider-Man facing the viewer, engaging them in the scene that alludes to the action of the musical. There are also distorted New York skyscrapers in the back that frame the subject with the type at the top in a gritty, comic-like composition. The classic, yellow blocking in the top quarter displays the Playbill type, leaving the rest of the colors as black and white.
