This embossed metal car tag is a variation of Alabama’s standard tag design purchased when registering or renewing one’s vehicle car tag. An individual can purchase this design representing the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama. Proceeds of the fee paid when registering this car tag design are donated to this museum. The museum opened in 1995 by George Barber in its original location in Birmingham, Alabama. It currently showcases over 1,200 motorcycles and race cars and has its adjacent race course. It has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest motorcycle collection. Possessing this tag represents the local and state-wide appreciation for such an establishment and provides a sense of communal ownership. This tag is a way to help the museum stay in business while representing an interest in it as the tag seen daily on your vehicle.
The tag features a black and white gradient above a black checkerboard pattern representing the flag waved for the vehicle and its driver who are the winner of a race. The logo of the museum itself is seen on the left. The tag has embossed letters and numbers that are unique to each vehicle and represent its registration number used for identification by the government. “Alabama” above “Heart of Dixie” is displayed on the top center of the tag to recognize the tag is for an Alabama vehicle and display one’s love for being in the middle of the Deep South: Dixie.
