This embossed metal car tag is a promotional item given out to members of The University of Alabama’s “Tide Pride” priority seating program as a symbol of appreciation for membership. An officially licensed collegiate product, this tag is given to those who are season ticket holders for Alabama football games. The program was originally launched in September of 1987 in advance of the 1988 football season. One would become a member of Tide Pride by purchasing season tickets or purchasing premium seating to watch the games. Membership in Tide Pride provides access to exclusive seating in the Tide Pride areas, which requires an additional monetary donation. Currently, one can join Tide Pride by joining the membership waitlist for an annual fee of $25. Consideration to being accepted from the wait list is factored through Total Tide Pride Points which are earned by season ticket purchases and monetary donations.
A decorative tag to display on the front of one’s vehicle, this item is representative of being involved in such a devoted fanbase for the school’s athletic program, as well as a collector’s item to display with other University of Alabama memorabilia. The tag is solid white with red text stating “Tide” in an all-caps serif, layered with a gray script reading “pride.” The colors used on the tag are representative of the University and its athletic teams.
