Alston Records 45 RPM Label

One of the 45 RPM vinyl produced by Alston Records, pressed by Monarch Pressing. This logo is their final one, a departure from their iconic hand-inked logotype. There is a stark difference between the previous black script and the solid gold, sans serif, all caps logo that replaced it. The name has bright points imitating light sparkling, with lines running through the letters that reference the appearance of a gold bar. The entirety of the label looks similar, with a subtle gradient leading from orange at the very top to the main yellow color of the body. All of the type besides the logomark is black. The logo change is interesting, especially since the label closed not too long after the switch and did not represent the spirit of the label nor the 70’s as well as the original.
