45 RPM Decca Record

This is a 45 RPM Decca Record. This record features two songs which are both by Kitty Wells. The first one is “Dust on the Bible” and the second song is "How Far is Heaven".  The two songs were released in March of 1956 but the exact production date of this 45 RPM vinyl is unknown. It is most likely from the 1970's though based on the brightly colored graphics. Early Decca records tended to be more conservative in their designs. This record features a brightly colored design in the center of the record. The song titles are white against a black background which is how earlier Decca Records were designed. This piece is important to graphic design history because it shows how records were designed in the mid 70's. It also shows how record design has changed over years and has evolved. It was also important for this design to be scalable and translate well on a wide array of mediums
