Christmas postcard

8

A well-aged, type dominant, Christmas-themed postcard. This card depicts a beautiful segment of typography introduced by a gorgeous golden “A” drop cap. These are complimented by the secondary focal point of three illustrations of green and red holly. The elegant font utilized on this postcard mimics that of the Gothic script, albeit altering the kerning of the type making it much easier to read. The religious themes of this Christmas postcard are emphasized by the card’s clear influence of medieval manuscripts. The printed illustrations of holly bush segments are both realistic and abstracted with the use of a strange yet interesting flattening of colors. The printing company and designer of this postcard is unknown. The date of this piece being printed is also unknown. There is a printing number at the bottom right of the postcard, the number being “3642.” Despite the corners being slightly bent and the discoloration that comes with age, this postcard is in good condition.
