A photograph of women in Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe in the 1970's holding a sign that speaks about voting. In the 1970's, the people in Zimbabwe were struggling for liberation and the women specifically were also fighting for their emancipation alongside this.  There was an escalating civil war and liberation struggle, marked by intense fighting between guerrilla forces and the white minority government as well as internal conflicts within the nationalist movements, leading to widespread atrocities before culminating in the Lancaster House Agreement of 1979 that paved the way for independence.
