This poster was designed by Usaburo Ito to advertise one of the famous Japanese non-carbonated soft drinks manufactured by Asahi Breweries. Calpis is made with cultured milk, produced by a natural process with lactobacilli, yeast and fermentation and is more than 100 years old. The woman is this poster was drawn to look tired before she drinks Calpis to show that Calpis is a nourishing drink. The woman in this poster is wearing knee length tubular day dresses often referred as flapper dress and she has an iconic haircut of Moga which was a staple of modern women.
