Both of these items are keepsakes of Auburn's local bookstore, Johnston & Malone. J&M is one of the only remaining historical vendors in the downtown Auburn area; therefore, these items contribute to preserving Auburn's history. Figure 1 is a printed banner of the ticket that was sold to fans for the first Iron Bowl played in Jordan-Hare stadium. It is made of felt material, and, considering the block letters underneath the illustration, it appears to have been made by a printing press. Figure 2 is a newspaper clipping addressed to the students of Auburn University. It advertises that J&M buys students' books and guarantees customer satisfaction. Together, these items address the fans and students of Auburn, proving that J&M is an integral part of the community.
