Yellowstone National Park souvenir folder series C

6

Foldouts, or souvenir folders, look like postcards, but they open up and unfold a long series of pictures, front and back. This one is from Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, U.S.A. . Haynes Inc. had a monopoly on Yellowstone postcards for a long time and made countless postcards. There is no date on this souvenir folder, but it says “Copyright by Haynes Inc. , Yellowstone Park, WYO.” On the front, there are some lines to address the postcard and a square in the top right to stamp it. At the top, it says “Haynes” in a thick, red script font, with “Souvenir Folder Series ‘C'” right under it in thin, black sans-serif. Towards the bottom, it says “Yellowstone” in a bold, red, sans-serif, and “National Park” in blue right under it and justified in the same font. The background is a picture of “Giant Geyser” against a blue and pink sky, with a small caption in black. The back is a picture of “Riverside Geyser,” clouds of steam and trees, with a small caption at the bottom in white. When you open the folder, it has a description of Yellowstone National Park, and the accordion-folded pictures. The pictures are of animals, mountains, canyons, waterfalls, geysers, anything you can find at Yellowstone, and they each have a caption. On the front side of the accordion, each panel is a vertical picture. On the back side of the accordion, each picture is horizontal. It is made of thick, sturdy paper, but it has some signs of use along the edges and folds. This has cultural value because the Haynes company was the most prolific in Yellowstone postcard production, but the company doesn't exist anymore. It would also have cultural value to someone who were to travel to Yellowstone, see these sights, and buy this postcard to remember their trip by, or to send to a loved one.
