"The Lion King" Playbill

6

Premiering on Broadway in 1997, The Lion King is their third longest-running show and high grossing production in history, still having shows today. Having won six Tony Awards, it is a fan favorite consisting of a plot born of betrayal to become a testament to love and friendship in aiding perseverance and coming into oneself.

This Broadway playbill from Minskoff Theatre features an illustrated abstraction of a lion’s face and mane with the title underneath lined in red. Front and center, there’s a strength that relates to the characters’ hardships with a more organic line weight that fits with the natural environment of the musical. The classic, yellow blocking in the top quarter displays the Playbill type, leaving a warmer yellow, black, and red as the other main colors.
