The Star of Zion
The Star of Zion is the oldest African-American newspaper publication that is still published and running today. Originating in Charlotte, NC the publication was created by the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Zion Church, the paper focused on church based activities and local political reports.
The title is centered at the top of the page in a bold serif font with informational text of the church surrounding it. The title includes a pentagram to symbolize the “Star” most likely referring to a Christian symbol of the five wounds of Christ.
