This 1965 Alabama license plate is stylized in a solid navy blue and orange color scheme. Unlike modern license plates, this typography-based rendition has embossed sans-serif lettering and numbers. An embossed heart lies in the bottom left corner representing the “Heart of Dixie” text at the top of the plate. The heart first appeared on Alabama tags in 1955. Alabama plates were issued as single-year tags until 1976 with the introduction of registration decals. This utilitarian item is marketed toward those who own a vehicle in Alabama.
