Annie (1982) is the original film adaptation of the 1977 Broadway musical of the same name, which was in turn based off of the “Little Orphan Annie” comic strip first printed in 1924. The story centers around Annie, a young orphan during the Great Depression who is adopted by a rich New York businessman.
This VHS release was made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Broadway musical and features remastered visuals and the original film's trailer included as a bonus feature.
The packaging features an image of the main character and her dog slightly off center on top of a solid yellow background. The film's title sits in the background, with some elements being behind the picture of Annie. Text describing the film's cast and the edition of this release sit above the title and to the side of the main image. A red bar with a white outline sits at the bottom, with white text describing the special features of this release. The sides of the box feature the film's title, a picture of Annie above it, and the Columbia Pictures logo or the logos of other contributors to the film depending on the side of the box. The back of the box features a white box with a red border with a thick black outline. Various shots from the film with red outlines are scattered on the left side, tilted at different angles and made to look like pictures scattered about. The inside of the white box contains information about the film and the special features of this release, with the outside containing a quote from a reviewer and information about the film's cast, crew, and distributor.
