Vibrant halftone printing and beautiful in-depth illustrations provide a wonderful viewing experience for any able to enjoy the craftsmanship of the Yellowstone National Park Series “D” Haynes Souvenir Folder. The souvenir folder is full of colorful postcards that provide views of Old Faithful and Gibbon Falls and many other natural beauties of Yellowstone National Park. In total there are 9 postcards encased within the folder with prints on both sides.
This souvenir folder is from around the 1940s and was distributed by Haynes incorporated. The Haynes family created postcards from their photoshops within Yellowstone. Frank Jay Haynes began the family business in 1884. The earliest forms of these foldout postcards were created in 1907.
This souvenir folder documents a time when Americans were beginning to spend more time traveling and taking vacation time. Therefore, the need arose for postcards and souvenir folders to document their trips and send to their loved ones. It also is a testament to the way that nature was able to be preserved for future generations once National Parks were established by the U.S. government.
