The Red Badge of Courage By Stephen Crane 1968 hardcover book and slipcase published by Westvaco / West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. Features a die cut bullet hole through front board and book with many pages featuring red blood splatters. Black boards stamped and ruled with gold ink on the spine, blind-embossed US Army insignia of an eagle on cover. Limited edition offered to employees of WESTVACO for Christmas 1968. Also includes a 1863 Rifle Musket guide. Images from Chicago Historical Society. Uses typefaces Linotype Scotch Number Two and Modern Number Twenty. Typographic illustrations from Gems of Penmanship by Williams & Packard, 1866 in Bradbury Thompson's collection.
