Hisui became famous for his designs for Mitsukoshi Department Store, but eventually began to work on advertising campaigns for many other companies as well. At the age of 46, Hisui traveled to Europe for the first time, where he encountered European design. Compared to the cute designs resembling picture books before his trip to Europe, Hisui's style evolved towards bold and sophisticated designs. This change was a result of actively incorporating cutting-edge European designs such as Art Deco into his work.
