This poster was for the performance of Tatsumi Hijikata's butoh dance. Butoh (舞踏), a Japanese theatrical performance, gained prominence as a symbolic artistic movement in the 1960s through Tatsumi Hijikata's butoh dance. The poster incorporates elements such as the shinkansen, which started operations in 1964 during the Olympic Games and motifs inspired by Hokusai's waves and the Japanese flag. The pair of women depicted at the lower part is sourced from the Fontainebleau School's artwork titled "Gabrielle d'Estrée Bathing." The poster attempts to captures the vibrancy of the contemporary culture by blending diverse aspects of everyday life and artistic influences from both Japan and the Western world into one piece.
