War on Poverty is a silkscreen poster made by an unidentified artist. The poster was used to encourage the return of US military from the Vietnam War and bring back more financial aid to American citizens.
The phrase, “war on poverty,” was coined by Lyndon B. Johnson who proposed a law addressing poverty within the US with great importance. With the turn of the Vietnam War and heavily expended costs, the poster was used to stress that the war was not worth fighting if American citizens could not fend for themselves as there was much less capital toward poverty programs.
