Indian Dancer: From an Ethnographic Museum

673

This piece by Hannah Höch is a canon representation of the Dada movement in early 20th century Avant Garde Modernisms. In this piece Höch utilizes cut-and-pasted elements of iconic references to film, Central African sculpture, and the domestic sphere, all coming together to portray famous actress “Falconetti” as a juxtaposed commentary on feminism and sexuality in contemporary German society in a composite representation of androgyny and complex facets of femininity.
