Brihadaranyaka Upanishad Adhyaya 1 folio 3b, page 2v

850

Sanskrit calligraphy from an excerpt of verses 1.3.1 – 1.3.4 from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (9th to 6th century BCE), a philosophical treatise on the spiritual nature of consciousness and the path of transcending material limitations and suffering; touching on ethics, ways to work that lead to deep inner peace, and the interconnected and interdependent relationship between all life.

I know this item from growing up learning about the Vedas, Upanishads, Itihasas and other wisdom from people inhabiting SE Asia in what we know now as India. Chinese and euro-centric calligraphy are quite popular in design education and online media. Indian calligraphy is not as often represented.
