The Ocios De Mi Juventud was the first printed piece of literature that was widely circulated in the island of Puerto Rico. The arrival of the first printing press in Mexico during 1806 allowed Spaniard, Juan Rodríguez Calderón, the ability to publish the first official book in Puerto Rico. Calderón's book was composed of poetry pieces that described the concept of leisure and youth in 19th century Puerto Rico.
