Camp Greene Postcard

3

During WWI Charlotte, NC was home to one of the largest military training camps: Camp Greene. Camp Greene covered nearly 6,000 acres and was referred to as "The City of Canvas" due to the thousands of canvas tents that covered the grounds. During WWI most postcards printed in the US were now supplied by American printers, as opposed to German, and it was common for full image cards to have a white border to save ink. In the case of this card the entire background was white with the image and text being printed in the middle.
