Lincoln vs. Howard Football Game Program 

Cover for a Thanksgiving Day football program between Lincoln and Howard from 1946. Both schools are historically black universities yet the publisher or designer of the program chose to or was limited to selecting an image of a football player of apparent caucasian descent for the program's cover. This was a common practice at this time dictated by the lack of easy access to and consideration for more representative imagery of our diverse culture.
