21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa Logo

850

This is the logo for the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. At a first glance, the logo may seem like a random pattern or arrangement of simple shapes laid out within a circle. After a closer look and a walk around the actual museum, one might realize that the logo is actually the map of the museum itself. The designer of the logo, Taku Sato, explains that the logo reflects the architectural concepts of the museum, such as the openness and freedom of the museum. You can read more about the architectural concepts in the link.

This logo demonstrates the use of simple shapes (rectangles and circles) can go a long way in expressing seemingly complicated information.
